High performance, low-mid / full range module with beam steering technology, equipped with 32 specially developed, high performance neodymium loudspeakers.
16 state-of-the-art Class D amplifiers are also integrated, as well as a specially developed 8-channel DSP processor for beam steering capability. The loudspeaker can reach a maximum SPL of 139dB / 1 metre. Its vertical beam width (0°-90°) and sound inclination angle (-40°/+40°) can be adjusted in real time, in 0.1? increments, using Fohhn Audio Soft control software. This ultra-fine degree of adjustment enables the speaker beam to be targeted with extreme precision towards the required audience area.
The speaker output can be split into two separate beams (Fohhn Two Beam Technology), enabling simultaneous coverage of different areas such as stalls and balcony. A further feature is Fohhn’s Side Lobe Free technology. This algorithm is designed to suppress the unwanted side lobes that inevitably occur with line arrays, resulting in greatly improved speech intelligibility.
The elegant speaker housing is constructed from premium quality multi-ply birch wood. Loudspeaker drivers and electronics are protected by a steel front grille, backed by acoustic foam, specially designed to give maximum sound transparency.
Two or more Linea Focus Modular units can be securely combined in seconds using Fohhn’s own Quick-Lock system. Flying mechanics can also be secured using Quick-Lock. Optional brackets for ceiling and wall mounting, and also for flown applications, are separately available. CAAD simulation data for EASE is available on request.
The FMI-400 fixed installation model is also equipped with important features that enable its integration into emergency evacuation systems (in accordance with EN60849 requirements). The connector panel has a protective cover with slots to accommodate cabling.
Fohhn Linea Focus Modular FMI-400
Electronically steerable, high performance line array modules with monitoring capability for fixed installation applications The FMI-400 is a full range / low-mid module containing 32 high performance, 4” long excursion neodymium loudspeakers. The active module is also equipped with 16 state-of-the-art Class D amplifiers as well as a specially developed 16-channel DSP processor for beam steering capability. An additional DSP gives the user access to a range of audio tools including 10-band EQ, compressor/limiter, delay, sweep tone and pink noise generator. A further DSP contains a special algorithm designed to give maximum protection to each individual speaker.
The perfect combination of loudspeaker, amplifier and DSP technology enables the FMI-400 to achieve a maximum SPL of 139 dB. The module has a frequency range of 1kHz – 17kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of > 105dB. The FMI-400 can be combined with other FMI-100, FMI-400 or FMI-110 modules from the Focus Modular series.
The loudspeaker’s vertical sound inclination angle (-40°/+40°) and vertical beam width (0°-90°) can be adjusted in real time, in 0.1° increments, using the intuitive Fohhn Audio Soft control software. Such a fine degree of adjustment enables the speaker beam to be targeted with extreme precision towards the required audience area.
Fohhn’s innovative dual-beam technology adds a further dimension, enabling the FM-400 to generate two separate beams in its vertical dispersion range. This allows two different audience areas (such as stalls and gallery) to be simultaneously targeted for maximum effective coverage. A digital high pass filter can be separately applied to each beam and the acoustic centre of the individual beams adjusted in real time and set at any point of the loudspeaker’s line length. A specially developed algorithm also enables the suppression of any unwanted side lobes in the beam.
The loudspeaker module is equipped with pilot tone monitoring that enables its integration into an emergency evacuation system. The following errors can be detected and displayed:
- internal voltage supply issues; overheating; short circuit on amplifier output stages
- interference on amplifier outputs due to earthing or voltage supply issues
- speaker short circuit; high resistance fault (from impedance measuring, in development)
- missing pilot tone on input 2 (configurable); network errors
Error messages are indicated via fault message contact (relay 2 x alter), red flashing LED, or status messages in Fohhn Audio Soft. Error messages cannot be read via RS-485 and Ethernet.
The loudspeaker system additionally offers:
- Priority switching to input channel 2. (If an audio signal of more than -30dBV is detected at input 2, input 1 is automatically silenced and input 2 activated. A system with 2 redundant audio lines can also be created.)
- 24V DC emergency power operation
- Adjustment and monitoring of all parameters in real time using Fohhn Audio Soft. The loudspeaker’s beam characteristics, volume alignment and frequency response are all graphically displayed and adjustments are shown in real time.
- Simple and intuitive operation via mouse.
In addition to the standard black and white factory finishes, Linea Focus Modular can be supplied in a full range of RAL colours.
The FMI-100’s slim, elegant and unobtrusive housing is constructed from premium quality multi-ply birch wood. A 2mm thick powder coated steel front grille, backed by acoustic foam and specially designed for maximum sound transparency, provides protection for the speaker drivers and electronics.
Each unit is reliably powered by a highly efficient green PSU with a maximum consumption of 5W in stand-by mode. Combining two or more Linea Focus Modular loudspeakers can be done in seconds using Fohhn’s dedicated Quick-Lock system. Flying mechanics can also be secured using Quick-Lock, making them both easily accessible and inconspicuous. Specific brackets for ceiling and wall mounting, as well as flown applications, are separately available. CAAD simulation data for EASE is also available.
